Day 3 of NaNoWriMo has come and gone and now it is time to blog. After that crazy game last night and a huge win by the Cubs, I decided to work from home today to get a few extra hours of sleep! It was well needed and I realized I am still not recovered from my marathon on Sunday.
Writing wise, I was able to successfully write my first chapter of book 2 of The Hoarding Series! I was extremely nervous diving into this chapter because I didn’t know in what direction I was going with this story. Remember, I never planned for this story to become a trilogy; it just happened. So this was the first chapter where I felt how big this world actually was and it was frightening. This story takes place in a different part of the world as opposed to the first book that takes place in Astenpoole.
But don’t worry, it isn’t as big as Westeros…yet.
But I was extremely happy with how the chapter turned out! This time around my main character is going to be a girl and it was definitely a different experience from book 1 where the main character was a boy. Being one in a family of four boys with no sisters, this will definitely be a test in whether or not I can find my feminine side.

And now for the bad news…
I hit a major plot hole in my overall story. This plot hole does not come in affect until book 3 which is the climax and the most important part of the story! So of course I am freaking out! The whole story has developed so far as a smooth constant flow. I did not want to write another book. I did not want to write world history. I did not want to add multiple POV characters. But I did it all when I realized it was necessary for the story and when it all flowed together and made sense to the overall plot. But now book 3 is far off in the future and I pictured how the story would end but the problem is: how to get to that point in the long run.
Right now the ideas I have that lead up to the climax during book 3 seem forced and raise more questions than needed. My solution so far is to really dig deep and figure out the roots and background history of my character’s world. If I don’t understand the world, how can my characters?
So looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me. Woot!
