The Big Move to Washington

I did it! At the end of February I finally moved out of the parent’s house in New Jersey and ventured out to Washington STATE (Not DC). My old roommate from college invited me out to live with him in the very cute town of Anacortes. And wow is it fricken beautiful.

But this decision to move wasn’t easy. People find that shocking. I lived in Spain for 4 years, this is at least still within the country, should be a piece of cake, right?

Wrong!

Priorities change over the years. I only got to see my family for 2.5 months total out of the 4 years I lived in Spain. I went a whole 2 years without seeing them when the whole world went crazy. Imagine not seeing your family for that long. It 100% affected me.

So when I lost my job and visa in Spain and got thrown back to living with my parents in New Jersey and everyone was hounding on me about what I was going to do with my life, my main focus and number 1 priority was to spend as much time with my family as possible to regain the precious time I had lost with them.

But this family time also prevented me from focusing on the next step I needed to take in my own life. While I was at home, all I wanted to do was be with my family. So after a year and a half of reconnecting, I decided it was finally time to move.

When my friend offered me to come stay with him long term in Anacortes, Washington, I didn’t hesitate to pursue that. We lived together in college and always got along. It was difficult saying goodbye to my family, but wow has it been a well needed change.

And not to mention the beauty of this state! I’ve seen a bald eagle every day so far! The forests are massive and dense and wet. Mushrooms grow out of every corner. And the people say hi and stop for you in the crosswalk. Anacortes also has an amazing bus system and a cute main street with coffee shops, book stores, and restaurants.

Now that I’ve moved I finally have my independence back! I can make my own decisions, eat when I want to eat, cook whatever I want, leave the house without any questions, and just focus on myself, my goals, and the next step I need to take in my life.

So what’s to come?

As I adapt to my new Washington life, I will be working hard on my Book Coaching business while writing the third book in The Hoarding series. I will also be publishing the third and FINAL book of the A Broken Heart Poetry Collection saga. Stay tuned for more updates!
