This was the highlight of my November, going into New York City to visit a friend and walking around Central Park. The temperature was perfect. T-shirt weather. After walking a total of 7 miles and admiring all the changing leaves, I stopped to watch a sunset over the city skyline. A perfect way to end the day before collapsing on my friend’s couch to rest my blistering feet.
What was your fall season highlight?
MY NANOWRIMO EXPERIENCE
WOOO! What a wild month it’s been. While adapting to the aggressive time change, fighting endless leaves attacking from above, hiding away from the cold tundra, and tackling holidays and birthdays, I am proud to say that I somehow found the time and mindset to crank out 50,000 words in the month of November for NaNoWriMo. For those who are curious, 50K words is more or less 200 book pages.
Which means…
If you take the time to write 1 – 2 hours every day for a whole month, you will have a novel-length first draft completed. Not too bad when you think about it.
Unfortunately for me I write fantasy where the average word count is around 100K words. So I got some work to do. Only halfway there!

Book Coaching
As many of you know, a few weeks ago I announced my Book Coaching business. I’m super excited for this new direction in my life. I’ll be able to combine the last five years of teaching experience with what I love most: writing.
I no longer want to teach in the public schools. Instead I want to help people who want to write a book to gain the confidence, routine, and skills to do it in just three months. Just like my Book Coach did for me. I would not be where I am right now if it wasn’t for him. He opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities by teaching me about the publishing and writing world. Now I want to share that knowledge with you.
