I just finished reading The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. It is the second book in the Kingkiller Chronicles and wow was it a hefty book: 1,107 pages. This took me about three months to read and I am finally done!
It is about a mysterious man named Kvothe who is telling his story about his life to a scribe named Chronicler. There have been many rumors about Kvothe’s life and people know him by many names. He now stays hidden inside an inn that he owns to hide from his past life that gets revealed through out the story. He is telling his story in three days, each book representing a day of storytelling. So there will be one more book that hasn’t come out yet.
The writing is spectacular. Patrick Rothfuss has amazing metaphors and the words flow like a song. The Kingkiller Chronicles has been bought by Liongate and will soon become a movie and television show! I highly recommend this series. It is kind of like an adult Harry Potter book.
